Sticky Stones

Workshop/Installation
2024

I invite you on the tenacious journey of Sticky Stones.
This project questions the fast-paced nature of modern life and offers a space for reflection and reconnection with ourselves and our surroundings.
Through the practice of slowing down and sensory interaction, Sticky Stones explores the urgency of cultivating a mindful relationship with our environment, encouraging a sense of care for natural elements that often go unnoticed. It highlights the often-overlooked vitality of inanimate objects like rocks by fostering a collective reflection on our place within the cycles of the natural world.

The project consists of a two-day workshop, held one week apart, an expedition, a lecture, and an installation. The first workshop took place in the woods of Hof Espelo, where participants explored and were introduced to their companion rocks. The second workshop included grounding exercises and a lecture, exploring sensory and emotional connections with the participating rocks. The exhibited project features soft, textile sculptures resembling rocks, inviting the viewer to sit, relax, and engage with the slow, grounding presence of these rock-inspired forms.
Sticky Stones emphasizes the importance of listening and caring, uncovering what we encounter when we engage with our environment and its internal rhythms.
